Sorry, alcohol is not on this list. But switching a couple of drinks a day to these could up your bodies fat burning potential considerably! However, be sure to read the details or pay attention to the CAPS to get the most boost!
1. Drink ICE COLD water! Jack Kruse says it can up your metabolic rate by 30-40%!
Why? Because your body is about 98 degrees and ice water is about 40 degrees. So for your body to warm up that ice water to about 60 degrees it takes energy (which is calories). Jack approximates this to be about 60 calories for every 2 Liters or 8 glasses of water. That will add up over time. Not to mention all the other benefits of getting enough water! So add ice to your water.
2. Drink 12 oz of coffee BEFORE your workout. The studies show up to three hours before is effective.
Why? The International Journal of Sports nutrition says that athletes who drank coffee burned 15% more calories!
3. Drink FRESH BREWED Green Tea WITH LEMON daily.
Why? ECCG’s! and polyphenols! These compounds have been shown to increase energy expenditure and fat oxidation. LEMON has been shown to increase the absorption of the catechins by as much as 13% according to two studies by Purdue University.
-Note that some studies do not show green tea to be beneficial. So more research could be done. But it doesn’t hurt. I personally have see clients add it there routine and lose inches so it’s worth a try.
