Have you thought about what you would like to accomplish in 2013? Do you want to lose 10lbs, or get stronger, or maybe run your first race? Signing up for a race can be a little scary. Especially if it is a distance or type that you have never done before. But I promise you, that if you follow through with your plan, it will be the most rewarding experience of your life. You will feel a sense of accomplishment, and pride that will carry over into more than just your athletic persona. I have found that completing distances and achieving fitness goals has given me a great amount of confidence.
Completing my marathon gave me the confidence to open my own business. If I hadn’t built that confidence, I know I wouldn’t have even tried to make Momentum Fitness a reality. It taught me that it takes lots of little steps to reach a final destination. You just have to actually take the steps and you will succeed in your dreams. It’s easy not to do, but it also easy to just do it. It is not about speed, it is just about doing it.
I decided to interview some inspirational runners to see why they decided to run a race, where they got their motivation from, and what did they feel was gained from the experience.
Listen and absorb inspiration from Malcom (an amazing half marathoner) and Jessica (just completed her first full marathon), and Natalie (first half marathon).
Set your goals, figure out the steps to get there, and then just do it. No excuses, no procrastinating, just get up and do it. There may be setbacks along the way, but you just keep going.
