The Tour de Troit is a 25 mile bike ride through Detroit’s historic areas. It is not at all competitive, but more like a relaxing way to explore the city. I don’t know about you, but I get lost and stressed every time I go to Detroit. So this ride is such a rare opportunity to see the sights and not worry about safety or getting lost. The tour is on September 15th at 8am. I have participated the last two years and plan to keep doing it every year. I love it!
Some added bonuses: Half way through the race you usually get some snacks and beverages, and at the end you get a generous 2 really tasty microbrewery beers, and food from awesome local restaurants. Last year we got our choice of chili from Slow’s Bar B Q, 2 slices of cheese pizza from Paul’s Pizza, an Italian sub sandwich from The Original Gonellas, a vegan burrito from Organaman, pork tamale, rice & beans from Honey Bee Market, or a vegetarian treat from Traffic Jam & Snug (V).
“The tour raises awareness of biking as a mode of transportation; publicizes the growing greenways network in the City of Detroit and all of Southeastern Michigan; and, as mentioned, raises funds for the greenways in Detroit, including the Southwest Detroit Greenlink.”
